Pioneering cutting-edge marine mammal research for conservation
Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) offshore on the Atlantic coast of Trinidad, as an independent scientific consultant to bpTT
I've conducted marine mammal surveys and managed passive acoustic arrays in a variety of settings, from academic to industrial. From conservation-based ecological surveys to mitigation measures during seismic operations.
I design and execute passive acoustic and visual monitoring of aquatic mammals and megafauna in Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. Both as an independent consultant for the oil and gas industry and as an academic researcher. I am working with professors from France and T&T on a conservation-based marine mammal research project, in collaboration with the Trinidad & Tobago Cetacean Sighting Network (TTCSN) of which I'm a co-founder. We have tested and piloted various frameworks, begun collecting funding and are acquiring equipment. I'm also currently soliciting international grants for the Trinidad Manatee Listening Project and local permits for the Gulf of Paria Dolphin Project.
